Thoughts and words of a Ghanaian lady who loves God and people, places and memories...
and in loving memory of one of her favourite bloggers, Sidney Nii Sai Schandorf.

The start of another year

I made it here,

No, He brought me here,

To live mind set beyond here.

The start of another year,

Not everyone made it here,

The promise to live near,

To hold Him dear.

The start of another year,

Nothing else to fear,

His cross to bear,

His voice to hear.

The start of another year,

Not something mere,

A gift to cherish dear,

You being here.

The start of another year,

Still journeying there,

Preparation here,

For eternity there.

The start of another year,

Failings in the distant rear,

Eternal promises to cherish dear,

Following Him faithfully here.

There's always something new to learn from the Bible readings at Christmas....It's amazing how the nativity story never 'grows old'...God's Word is truly living and active. I'm always reminded through the scripture texts that God uses ordinary people who are willing and obedient; regardless of our fears and short-comings, God is able to fulfill mighty things in our otherwise 'simple lives'.

Here's one of the things I learnt through the Christmas stories last year: - Fear often stands between 'just-living' and 'living-all-that-God-has-promised'. Four times in the events recorded, God needed to give this reminder/assurance to the people He had chosen: DO NOT BE AFRAID!

"Joseph, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife" - Matt. 1:20
"Do not be afraid Zechariah; your prayer has been heard" - Luke 1:13
"Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God." - Luke 1:30
"Do not be afraid, (shepherds); I bring you good news that will cause great joy to all people." - Luke 2:10

This is my Christmas prayer for us:
When we need to make difficult choices like Joseph, may we not fear; may the Lord use us to obediently fulfill all prophecy relating to our lives, to our families and to the nations.

When we have toiled and wrestled in prayer like Zechariah, may we hear these refreshing words; "Do not fear...your prayer has been heard".

When like Mary, the task God has placed before us looks huge and almost impossible, may these words keep us going - "Do not be afraid; you have found favour with God"....

And when like the shepherds in the field, the glory of the Lord shines so brightly around us, may we receive the Grace to bask in His glory, and the strength and wisdom to rise up and tell all people the GOOD NEWS that causes great joy! Amen. Merry Christmas!

Not everyone looks forward to Christmas with joy and excitement....for some, this is their first Christmas without a loved one/family member or a friend that they always spent the season with....Some are in countries where they are not surrounded by many family and friends, and miss home + the traditions they are used to terribly....Some live among people who do not want to hear 'Christ' mentioned at all....No matter where you live or how you feel in this season, remember this: Jesus is the reason....His Name is "Immanuel"; GOD WITH US! Halleluyah! What a Saviour!

For those that grieve God will bring comfort Laughter will rapture there This is my Christmas prayer...

See I pray that love will rule and reign And I pray that time will rid the pain of this world As we learn to trust and care This is my Christmas prayer...

I pray for you That you triumph and conquer Possess the strength you need to bear This is my Christmas prayer...

For those in need There would be plenty And each other's burdens share Oh, this is my Christmas prayer...

With worthy praise that matchless name of Jesus!" #KurtCarr
