Who has the marking scheme?

by - February 05, 2024

I’ve finished my thesis work; per my own estimation, I’ve done over 90% of everything...but I’m not the one with the marking scheme . It’s up to my supervisor to rate and score the work I’ve done so far; she has the marking scheme. It brings to mind how we often ‘mark’ our own actions and inactions- ‘I’ve given so much to the poor’, ‘I am not a gossip and I don’t steal’, ‘I am such a good person at heart’, etc. We could even get affirmed by family, friends, neighbours, co-workers, etc.... but unfortunately, they don’t have the final marking scheme either. When all is said and done, only God has the final say and the final marking scheme. His opinion and His assessment of our lives are what would determine where we would spend eternity.

Still in relation to my thesis, I made a plan to go to Kumasi today (Tuesday September 11th), spend time wrapping up and printing out all documents, submitting at the KNUST Graduate School, and making payments. I had ‘walked’ and worked with my plan till Efo asked me if I had informed my supervisor. I hadn’t, and when I did, she told me she was unavailable on Tuesday and Wednesday. It reminded me of the many times we make our own plans and expect God to change His plans to suit ours. We are supposed to be following God; He is not the One meant to follow us. :) If He is not Lord of all, then He is not Lord at all. A man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. Once my supervisor shared her available days with me, I had to readjust my plan. It’s not what suits me that matters after all; what works for the 'one in charge' matters more. It is same in the area of our lives- our own plans...the activities that suit us...those don’t matter as much as the plans and activities God has for us; He’s the One in charge after all!

And oh...how sweet it is...when we learn to submit our way to His; one step at a time! Taste, & see...that the Lord is good! His ways are perfect. :)

Selah.
