Thoughts and words of a Ghanaian lady who loves God and people, places and memories...
and in loving memory of one of her favourite bloggers, Sidney Nii Sai Schandorf.

....I used to listen to this song by Kevin Levar a lot. There are not many 'prayer songs' on the theme of forgiveness. I posted the lyrics & a prayer on Facebook on 20th February 2013 and that came up as a memory this morning. A welcome reminder, especially in this season of Lent. The Lord is our strength and our song. :)

"I want a heart that forgives
A heart full of love
One with compassion just like Yours above
One that overcomes evil with goodness and love
Like it never happened, never holding a grudge...
I want a heart that forgives
One that men can't offend 'cause Your word is deep within
One that loves without price like You Lord Jesus Christ
I want a heart that loves everybody-even my enemies...
'Cause the heart that forgives is the heart that will live totally free from the pain of the past, and the heart that lets go is the heart that will know so much freedom.

Lord I wanna let it go (Hallelujah) God I need to let it go Lord it's been holding me back And I don't want it, I don't want it, I don't, I don't want it no more I don't know exactly what to do to get rid of it But, here I am Lord Jesus Here I am, oh here I am Lord Jesus Oh, Lord I need You, I need You I know this is me that You're talking to This is me, this is me, this me Lord, this is me..."

#Lunch-time prayer: God, I let it go...whatever's been holding me back from loving freely...every single pain, every single hurt - I LET IT GO! I give up my rights to hold it against anyone who's offended me with hatred inside...Have my heart Lord, and give me grace to LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY -JUST LIKE YOU! Amen.

"Your greatest contribution to the kingdom of God may not be something you do but someone you raise." - Andy Stanley

Children being inspired by an artist

Mothers of young children, your work is most holy. You are fashioning the destinies of immortal souls. The powers folded up in the little ones that you hushed to sleep in your bosoms last night, are powers that shall exist forever. You are preparing them for their immortal destiny and influence. Be faithful. Take up your sacred burden reverently. Be sure that your heart is pure and that your life is sweet and clean.J.R. Miller

"A child who feels valued and accepted by his mother can change the world. A child who feels like her mother thinks she’s wonderful can better weather the challenges life sends her way."

"If you raise your children to feel that they can accomplish any goal or task they decide upon, you will have succeeded as a parent and you will have given your children the greatest of all blessings". - Brian Tracy

"Most of what we teach our children about God, marriage, parenting, family, and work will not come from lectures and lists of rules. It will come from those times when we're laughing over pizza, eating popcorn and watching a movie or lying with them at bedtime and listening as they talk about whatever is on their heart and mind. We can teach what we know, but we can only reproduce who we are." - Jim Daly, Focus on the family

I’ve finished my thesis work; per my own estimation, I’ve done over 90% of everything...but I’m not the one with the marking scheme . It’s up to my supervisor to rate and score the work I’ve done so far; she has the marking scheme. It brings to mind how we often ‘mark’ our own actions and inactions- ‘I’ve given so much to the poor’, ‘I am not a gossip and I don’t steal’, ‘I am such a good person at heart’, etc. We could even get affirmed by family, friends, neighbours, co-workers, etc.... but unfortunately, they don’t have the final marking scheme either. When all is said and done, only God has the final say and the final marking scheme. His opinion and His assessment of our lives are what would determine where we would spend eternity.

@'Gaza' Hostel: 27July,2019, KNUST

Still in relation to my thesis, I made a plan to go to Kumasi today (Tuesday September 11th), spend time wrapping up and printing out all documents, submitting at the KNUST Graduate School, and making payments. I had ‘walked’ and worked with my plan till Efo asked me if I had informed my supervisor. I hadn’t, and when I did, she told me she was unavailable on Tuesday and Wednesday. It reminded me of the many times we make our own plans and expect God to change His plans to suit ours. We are supposed to be following God; He is not the One meant to follow us. :) If He is not Lord of all, then He is not Lord at all. A man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. Once my supervisor shared her available days with me, I had to readjust my plan. It’s not what suits me that matters after all; what works for the 'one in charge' matters more. It is same in the area of our lives- our own plans...the activities that suit us...those don’t matter as much as the plans and activities God has for us; He’s the One in charge after all!

And oh...how sweet it is...when we learn to submit our way to His; one step at a time! Taste, & see...that the Lord is good! His ways are perfect. :)
