"Mary, did you know?"

One of the carols that spoke most to me last Christmas is ‘Mary, did you know?’. It’s such an encouragement to mothers and all caregivers of children. The fact is that we never know the destiny of the children God graciously gives to us, and though sometimes we have glimpses of what God has in store for the children in our lives, we’ll hardly have full details of the masterpiece God wants to make of them. The songwriter (Mark Lowry) said, given the opportunity to meet Mary, these would have been his questions to her:
“Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you
Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God
Mary did you know?
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding is the great I Am!
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding is the great I Am!
So let's ask ourselves a few questions:
Do we know what plans and dreams God has for the children in our lives?
If we knew what God would use our children for, would we alter the way we care about /for them just a little bit more?
Selah.
