God calls us all to be evangelists, basically to share the news about Him to other people. Whether that’s through sharing why we believe or by telling our story of how God’s transformed our lives, we’re called to tell others about Him. But we don’t always feel qualified to do it. We think we’re not good enough at talking to others, we’re too afraid of what people might think of us or we think that evangelizing is for certain people. The thing is, God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. The devil can try and tells us that God only uses people with a certain IQ level or those with degrees or a particular personality. But this isn’t true. Jesus said to His disciples, ‘You will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth.’ The group of disciples were made up of fisherman, tax collectors – everyday kinds of people. Jesus didn’t pick the most educated, the wealthiest or the best speakers. He picked people who would be willing to follow Him. So when we’re willing to follow, He’ll use us. And He’ll equip us to do what He’s calling us to do. ‘Few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful’ (1 Corinthians 1:26-27 NLT). So however we’re feeling about ourselves, we can know for sure that God wants to use us and will help us to tell others about Him. We just need to be willing to follow His call.
