Church....To go or not to go....
In Ghana, some church congregations have started 'in-person' services for about 100 adults at a time. While some are convinced we should go back to church, others feel there's no rush for now. A few friends of mine have mentioned reasons why they would resume attending church services, while a good number of other friends also hold different views with good supporting reasons. There is no 'one-size-fits-all' answer as to what an individual or family should do, but we should all prayerfully consider what the Lord would have us do (not only with regards to church) in this season.
Romans 14 has my thoughts on the matter...so here goes...my two coins...:)
1. Those who feel they should go should not look down on those who want to join online services, or smaller 'cell' groups...
2. We should not argue or quarrel over disputable matters....
3. One person considers going to a physical church as more sacred than joining services online... "Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind." Whoever regards one "method" as special does so to the Lord...
"The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand."
4. To our own selves, let us be true, for " each of us will give an account of himself to God."
5. Let us act in love, consideration and understanding...As members of One Body, and having a common enemy, we should not let preferences or personal convictions pull us apart...."Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way."
"....if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is .... of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit"
6. "Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification."
7. "It is better not... to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall....So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God."
