Thoughts and words of a Ghanaian lady who loves God and people, places and memories...
and in loving memory of one of her favourite bloggers, Sidney Nii Sai Schandorf.

 It's about 1:15am and I just finished watching a movie titled "Hidden Figures"...

Summary of the movie as captured by 'Noire Histoir' - "a 2016 movie adapted from Margot Lee Shetterly’s book Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race.

 The film tells the story of three Black women who used their talents in mathematics and engineering to aid in America’s quest to successfully put an astronaut into orbit and safely return him to Earth. Pushing against racism and sexism, these three women would emerge as pioneers in the S.T.E.M. field and inspirations beyond."

If we look closely at our own ancestry/lineage, we would find stories of  these and more; Courage. Hard work. Determination. Perseverance. Resilience. For some, there may not be a lot of 'good stories' but I believe there would be at least, one! And one is enough to inspire! :) It's always a beautiful thing to be reminded of the awesome lineage we can trace our families to. Men and women of courage and truth. Faith of our fathers, holy faith...we will be true to Thee till death! Hallelujah!

This hymn came to mind:

For the might of Thine arm we bless Thee,
Our God, our fathers’ God;
Thou hast kept Thy pilgrim people
By the strength of Thy staff and rod;
Thou hast called us to the journey
Which faithless feet ne’er trod;
For the might of Thine arm we bless Thee:
Our God, our fathers’ God.

For the love of Christ constraining,
That bound their hearts as one;
For the faith in truth and freedom
In which their work was done;

For the peace of God’s evangel
Wherewith their feet were shod;
For the might of Thine arm we bless Thee:
Our God, our fathers’ God.

We are watchers of a beacon
Whose light must never die;
We are guardians of an altar
That shows Thee ever nigh;

We are children of Thy freemen
Who sleep beneath the sod;
For the might of Thine arm we bless Thee:
Our God, our fathers’ God.

May the shadow of Thy presence
Around our camp be spread;
Baptize us with the courage
Thou gavest to our dead;

O keep us in the pathway
Their saintly feet have trod;

For the might of Thine arm we bless Thee,
Our God, our fathers’ God.

 I wish I could boast of being a prim and proper mum all the time, but I can't

Why? Because even though it may not look so on the outside, I need help

I wish I could say I'm up to cleaning the house every day & cooking hot meals for the family daily, but I'm not

Why? Because there are some days that I'm simply tired or feeling a bit lazy

So... I need help... I'm a mother

Let me just stretch out my legs once a while; my body needs it

Let me take out my Bible or a good book worth reading and plunge into the pages; I get refreshed by that

Let me leave all the household chores and step out for a swim in the pool when I get some space ; it helps me regroup

***Lend a helping hand to any momma in your life whenever you get the opportunity to. It takes a village to raise children. We cannot do it all by ourselves, or else, we may get so drained that we would not be able to give off our best selves.
