Thoughts and words of a Ghanaian lady who loves God and people, places and memories...
and in loving memory of one of her favourite bloggers, Sidney Nii Sai Schandorf.

It's amazing how many people can be so nice to everyone except the people in their own homes. If a friend's mother is rude, you can cut her some slack but if your own mother offends you 'small', you can't stand it for a second.....when you're ushering at church, you smile so broadly...but when you're home with your family, you frown and act up (sometimes, your husband even wants to hide in the store because of the unpleasant look on your face!).....when your boss is late for a meeting, you say, 'that's fine Sir; i actually didn't mind waiting'....but when your wife is late in coming to sit in the car, you scream and refuse to talk for the whole drive! Really? Who's getting the better part of you? The people in your home deserve your smile, tolerance, patience, courtesy, etc. If everyone praises you....but the people closest to you can't stand up and say good things about you, there must be something questionable somewhere.
...be a blessing to everyone, especially those you live with. Cheers!

When people are asked how they're doing, we often hear answers like 'I'm fine by God's Grace', 'Adom oh', 'Drom)', 'Amenuveve ta mie li', 'Grace is keeping us', etc. 'Grace' has become a very familiar word used by many. I found some truths about 'Grace' worth sharing:

Titus 2: 11-13
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

  1. The Grace of God offers salvation to all people
Truly, salvation is an ‘offer’. Like any other offer (e.g. an admission offer into a school, or an offer for a job position), the choice is left with the recipient. A response is to be made either in the affirmative or negative. The offer stands for a period and once you’re not heard from, the position either expires or is given to another willing person.
God’s Grace offers salvation to all people. Thankfully, this offer isn’t only given to ‘qualified’ or ‘experienced’ people. This offer isn’t restricted by your past or your location. This offer doesn’t depend on your grades, degrees, marital status, life’s circumstances, etc. Salvation is offered to ALL people! Whosoever will may come!
It’s my prayer that you respond to the Lord by saying ‘yes’ to this offer. Choose life my dear friend.

  1. It (The Grace of God) teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age
If we believe that God’s Grace is sufficient, we shouldn’t squirm at the thought or mention of living self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. The same ‘Grace’ that keeps us well and alive, teaches us to do these too. The next time you’re in a gathering of Christians and ‘Grace’ is shared, or the next time ‘Grace’ is said before a meal, do remember that you’ve a responsibility to say ‘No’ to ungodliness, by the enablement of God’s Grace.

"In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor." Acts 9:36
If our lives were to be described in one sentence, what would the sentence read? Let your light shine - whether you're a candle in a corner or a lighthouse on a hill.
